Flu outbreak in Bangkok
The Ministry of Public Health has stepped up campaigns against the spread of Influenza A in the capital of Bangkok after it was found to be the area with the most infections.
Speaking of the disease outbreak, the Minister of Public Health, Jurin Laksanawisit, said that the situation – particularly in Bangkok – must be closely monitored.
The ministry has coordinated efforts with the Education Ministry and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) in expediting control measures – particularly in schools, as more and more students are coming down with the relatively virulent strain of influenza A.
It is speculated that the capital’s high population density is the cause of the high infection rate, and people are being urged to follow the proper disease control practices – as campaigned by the Public Health Ministry – very strictly, thereby minimising their risk of infection.
The Ministry of Public Health has re-adjusted its vaccination plan by distributing the vaccines to the provinces most in need.
